WE WERE THAT COOL!

BUT, COULD IT REALLY BE 50 YEARS AGO THAT MY BEST FRIEND AND I USED TO DRIVE AROUND IN THAT RED MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE

OH, YEAH IT WAS ~ 50 YEARS GONE, LIKE THAT (snap)

We were barely 17 years old and thought we were invincible in that car.  It was the first one to be seen in our small, Ontario  town. It was 1964 and my best friend's mother had not only bought one, but she gave it to her teenage daughter to drive.  Thank you Alice!

THAT CAR MADE US COOL ~  DRIVING ALONG WITH THE RADIO BLASTING OUT TUNES LIKE 'SATISFACTION' AND 'SHE LOVES YOU, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH.."

The Beatles
The Rolling Stones (with Brian Jones)

To be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the icon that gave us the kind of memories that all teenagers should have, gives me pause.  It was an era of change - from cars & music to hair styles, fashion and attitudes.  I'm grateful to have been a part of it and to be able to share this particular piece of nostalgia with my longest and dearest friend is what makes it truly memorable.

I don't know why we never took pictures, so I'm leaving it to our imaginations where it belongs ~ the two of us driving up and down the main drag of our town on Friday nights or speeding along the highway, radio turned up full volume, our hair blowing in the wind along with Dylan's words.. chasing the sun, taking us towards an unknown future.

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MUSTANG!

With love and fond memories,
Linda (& Lois)
xx

Linda, this is a great memory. We had the exact same car! Same colour and everything. I was 5 or 6 years old when my Dad brought it home. Knowing what I know now, I'm sure my Mom was less than please. I remember the thrill of riding in it. It was all wonderful until my Dad backed it over my bike and damaged it beyond repair. Apparently, I'd been told many times not to leave it at the end of the driveway. As sharp as my memory is about all of this...I certainly don't remember being told THAT! ;)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
